Joint Replacement Center

Your Pathway to Hip, Knee & Shoulder Wellness

Shore Health System's Joint Replacement Center takes the worry out of surgery and replaces it with confidence. Located on the fourth floor at The Memorial Hospital in Easton, the Center makes hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery as easy and comfortable as possible in a special group atmosphere. The newly appointed Center provides a pleasant setting for patients to get back on their feet - quickly - often within days of surgery.

Why You Should Consider Joint Replacement

As our population ages and an active lifestyle becomes more and more important for prevention of illness and injury, joint replacement surgery has become more popular. Almost everyone who acquires a new hip, knee or shoulder is thrilled with how quickly they can put their lives back in motion and regain the ability to perform their favorite activities - whether it's golf, gardening, cycling or walking.

Education & Wellness

Anxiety about surgery often stops people from seeking relief from sore joints. The Joint Replacement Center eases fears by concentrating on education and wellness. Once you understand each step involved in getting a new hip or knee, you'll be eager to get on with the surgery.

You're Not Alone

The new Center environment, where therapy, exercise, meals and patient education are provided in a group atmosphere, fosters a sense of companionship, team spirit and group support. You learn that you're not sick in the traditional sense of illness; you just have very sore joints. You gain a clear understanding of your road to recovery and mobility through our "Joint Wellness Camp".

Learning About Joint Replacement

During your time at the Center you'll learn about:
  • the actual surgical placement of the prosthetic
  • anesthesia and pain control
  • therapy and exercises
  • planning for recuperation and recovery at home

Your Team

Once you have received medical clearance a case manager will assess your physical condition and home environment. It's important to understand the challenges you may face at home after surgery. Additional members of your team include orthopaedic surgeons, nurses and therapists. They follow special medical "pathways" for joint surgery that combine the latest technology and therapy.
